I am using a Comtrade computer with a pentium II processor with Windows 2000 as the operating system and Award BIOS. My problem is with the display properties. When I go to start, control panel, display, and then settings I see this
Display:
(Unknown Monitor)on (Unknown Device)
Below this is colors on the left and screen area on the right. Colors is only showing 16 as an option and the only screen area that I can choose is 640 X 480 pixels. I know for sure that the proper setting for the screen area should be 800 X 600 pixels. Also when I go to system properties, device manager, properties for my display adapter, the general tab for my Diamond viper V330 (Nvidia Riva 128)Properties shows this
Device Status
This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed. (Code 24)
Try upgrading the device drivers for this device.
I have upgraded the device drivers for this device and still get what I have already described. I suspect that the root of my problem is coming from changes that were accidentaly made in the BIOS settings for my computer. This problem arose immediately after they were changed. How would I go back into BIOS to make sure that my display screen or display adapter is able to use the 800 X 600 pixels and get things looking normal again? I know you get into BIOS by pressing delete at startup but where would I go from there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
