Hi, I have a Compaq Presario 4712 that the monitor went blank after a reboot because it froze while surfing the net. Monitor and cable have been checked and are ok. The lights on the computer and monitor are green. No sound when booting up except for the fan. No beeps. Nothing at all comes on the monitor. This has video built into the motherboard. Compaq was no help. Is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance.

No beeps is not a good thing, you should have at least one...If it were a video card problem you'd most likely get a series of beeps, since video is not working and you can't see a text error message.

Try opening the case and reseating the memory chips, that might help...

Have you tried a different monitor?

Sorry.......I didnt read the post carefully enough http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
One thing I try when an "On-Board" video gives trouble is to put a PCI video card in the computer and see if it will boot up. Your on board vid card might be out......There might be a difference in computer "beep" behavior when the vid card is on-board...I dont know for sure.
