Hi guys! I am desperate for some suggestions. I have an AMD k6-2 366 and I have recently replaced my motherboard. As far as I know I have fitted it correctly but for some reason it has disabled my video card. I have both a AGP Diamond Viper 32MB and an AGP ATI Rage 8MB. I have tried both of them and no signal is being sent to the monitor so I assume that the card is disabled. Both cards worked fine on my old motherboard.
I have set all the jumper settings for the board to what I think is the correct settings for my CPU. I have no idea where to start. Could having the jumper settings wrong disable my video card. I would appreciate any suggestions you'd care to throw at me. I am without a computer at home as fellow geeks I'm sure you know how distressing that is. Please help!!
A little more info would be very helpful, what make and model motherboard?
Does it seem like it wants to boot?
Any beeps or other indications of errors?

Welcome, dragon17! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Some new motherboards ship with a thin plastic insert preventing the CMOS battery from making contact and draining it. Look for a small tab, or to be extra sure, remove the battery and check. Sometimes there is also a jumper for clearing the CMOS that may be set to the "clear" position. If so, it needs to be moved to the "run" position for correct operation. Look in your manual for a section perhaps titled "Before You Start". Verify that the power supply fan and the CPU cooling fan are both running when you turn the system on.

Hi there!
Thanks for replying. The motherboard is a FIC PA-2013 ATX. I am running an AMD k6-2 366 on it. I don't get any beeping and I have no idea if there are any error messages as my monitor has no sign al getting to it. This is why I presume there is a problem with the video card but I have tried both cards I have which do work and no signal. I don't know what to do now really. I have considered that it may be the AGP port in which case I will have to send my motherbaord back and get a new one but I'd need to be sure first. Thanks again for your help.

Check the manual. You need the CMOS jumper set right, the soft power on switch connected right, and all other jumpers right. Make sure the main power cable is connected to the borad correctly. Can they be plugged in backward? I'm not sure...
Reseat the memory and video card.
Try it on a tabletop-only motherboard, CPU, memory and video card just long enough to see a picture. If you get a picture it's a ground problem, get some cardboard washers from a computer shop and put them between the motherboard and chassis.
