No Sound from Windows Media Player 7

When a boot up my PC i get a error message "A Required .DDL file DSOUND >DDL Was Not Found" And when i open up video files in Windows Media Player 7 the picture is there but no sound. But i can get sound if a play an Audio CD or any other sounds that occur when booting up my Pc.
Can anyone help please.

Try reinstalling DirectX 8
