Hi,

I just installed an Asus Geforce 2 GTS 32 mb vid card, replacing my old TNT 2/Ultra 32 mb card. I installed the latest driver from NVIDIA, and then ran 3D Mark 2000 and the score came back 1000 points LOWER than the old card. Can anyone think of why this may be ? Nothing else in the configuration has changed except the vid card and driver.

Here's my system:

PII 400
384 mb PC 100 Ram
Asus Geforce 2 GTS 32 mb
QDI 440bx motherboard, supports 2x AGP, 33mhz UDMA

I know this card doesn't really shine until it is mated to an equally high-performing CPU and Ram, but I still don't think it should perform worse than the old card.

Any help would be appreciated http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Many things could cause the difference.

Are you running at the same resolution/color depth?

Are the configurations the same (same features turned on)?

These are just a few but you shoould get the idea. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

hey, thanks for the reply,

To answer your question, yes all my settings have remained the same (res, 32bit color etc). This is why I'm troubled. The ONLY thing I've changed is the vid card itself and the driver. In fact, the first benchmark I ran was using the same detonator driver from NVIDIA which supports both the old card and the new card, with the same results, the Geforce is running slower than the TNT, and that just shouldn't happen. I'm wondering if the old PII 400 could actually cause the Geforce to run slower than its supposed to ? Talk about a let down, I was expecting to be blown away by the performance difference between the two cards (well, I guess I am, but not in a good way)

Well after some digging around I came up with this GeForce Guide (http://www.3drage.com/guides/geforce/), also have you updated to DX8?

you should go to asus and get thier latest drivers. asus kind of does stay with the nvidia board like hercules so thier drivers make your graphics on your card slower. this should work if you have any trouble email me at BDF000@hotmail.com
