I have a 3 year old IBM Pc running on windows 95. My monitor goes blank every 1 or 2 minutes(but ythe light on the monotor glows indicating that the mionitor is on). I have to switch off the monitor and switch it on for the screen to appear.
I have to keep turning off and on the monitor right from the time of windows startup
But strangely , I found that if the DOs prompt is the active screen, then the screen is stable and the monitor does not go blank.
Can anyone suggest if it is a hardware problem or a software problem ?

Welcome, Martian! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Is this a new problem, or has your system always done this?
Does moving the mouse 'reactivate' your screen display?

No, it is a new problem. No moving the mouse or the keyboard does not help.
I have to switch off and switch on the monitor again.
Have you added any new hardware or updated any software recently?
Have you made any configuration cahnges (resolution/color depth)?
Have you moved the computer to a new location?
