I HAVE A COMPUTER WHICH OPERATES ON WINDOWS NT 4 WORKSTATION. THE COMPUTER WAS STRUCK BY NAVIDAD VIRUS.WITH THE HELP OF MACFEE ANTI VIRUS CO. I MANAGED TO REMOVE THE VIRUS. BUT I CAN'T RESTORE THE FILES AND DRIVERS FOR SOUND AS THE SYSTEM REPORTS THAT THE FILES ARE VALID FOR WINDOWS NT 4. WHEN CONNECTING TO INTERNET THERE IS A DIALING SOUND BUT THERE IS SOUND WHEN PLAYING AUDIO CD. IF YOU PLUG THE SPEAKERS IN THE HEADPHONE JACK ON THE FRONT YOU CAN HEAR SOUND.

First of all, check to see if your speakers are hooked up properly, no loose connection.
There are several Motherboard manufacturer who uses ES1373 chip for sound, can you tell me who is your MB manufacturer ?

Here is the website for MSI, who uses same chip for sound. http://download.msi.com.tw/driver/driver.htm

If you can tell me what MB you have, I can find the driver for the sound.

That probably just unzips the driver files. Check in the folder you ran it in, you can delete the other two, since you only need it in one place. You should see a list of files, rather than just the one exe file.

After unzipping to a folder you have to install the sound card in Control Panel. Since this seems to be an NT machine I can't give you many details on the installation, but you do need to make sure the driver is NT compatible, then install the card, browse to the folder containing the unzipped drivers when asked during the installation. If the sound card is already shown, use the Update Driver option. If NT has that...I'm not that far into NT yet, but trying...
