I have 800MHZ intel processor with 128MB ram , 30GB memory. all that component should give a fast computer, but I don't feel much difference between my new pc with my old 133MHZ pc. by the way, I use win Me which is as I know is fast. can any one tell me what is the problem.

I have never used Windows ME, but I have read of lots of problems. I would look to it for the source of your slowness. Perhaps other people here using ME would like to comment.

Same here, I've never used ME but have seen plenty comments on the forums indicating that it is slow.

Add to the list: ME crashes, hangs, and IE 5.5 is buggy.

I agree ME is rather slow off the blocks but most of the resource intensive components can be tamed, but is it worth it? 98 seems to be somewhat faster. ME seems to speed up quite a bit with MORE than 128MB though (put an additional 128MB in my father-in-law's machine to make 160MB speed increase was quite noticeable). ME also seems to have a propensity to use the swap file even with plenty of RAM so there could be a source of slowness.

ME shouldn't really be noticeably slower than 98SE (but why should an upgrade be worse than its predecessor in any way???)

What do you mean by slow? If youre talking about running word and sending email, you may not notice a huge difference between your old and new computer (although there should be some differences) It should boot a lot faster, bring up progs a bit faster, but if you're talking about internet performance...you ain't gonna see much...

I can barely tell the difference between my brothers P2 266, 64 mb ram, laptop (with a 4200 rpm hd) and my Athlon 1ghz, 256 mb ram, 7200 rpm hds when I'm just browsing web sites...that desktop should be 4 times as fast if you just look at the numbers, but it doesn't work that way...

That said, there could be something wrong with your computer...try to describe the symptoms a little more...
