i am trying to help a friend fix his M/S game
RETURN OF ARCADE. his flopy disk#2 got corrupted.
the question is if you copy a cab file to "fix" a game is it copyright infringment?
I dont pirate software nor would i ask someone to break the law.
to me there is a difference. but then i am not a lawyer! people pour hot coffee on them selfs and get paid for it. i ask for a copy of a file to repair something and would probably go to jail.
if anyone knows how it works I'd be interested in learning.
I would also be interested in getting that cab file if legal.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft would replace the diskette. It may require sending the original back to them and paying for the shipping. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

I would like to think so. But my friend informs
me that they will not. It does sound kinda chinze.
I just said that I would try to get it for him, as he did me a favor. And after thinking about it I started to wonder about the legalites of it. Did you ever read one of those copyright/license agrements? I believe most people just clk yes. Understandably so!

Why won't they replace it? If you can get something in writing from Microsoft then you may have more options, but your best bet is trying to find it second hand, if it is on floppy they may have stopped supporting it so they wouldn't be able to replace it because they don't have any to send. I've seen some of the older Microsoft games titles at some stores in the discount bin for $5 or so, in thrift shops for a couple of bucks.
