View Full Version : No sound whatsoever!

Having rebooted my PC recently, I've been unable to achieve any audio whatsoever. It's rather frustrating as ALL the sounds were working ok before.
I've attempted to update the driver but it's of no use as it announces that the device is either not present, not working properly or does not have all the drivers installed (Code 10). The Brooktree Fusion/Audio Capture device is reported to be working.
I'll be truly grateful if any of you wonderful people can get me some noise back on my PC!
By the way, the volume is switched on and the wires are in the right place!

Boot into "safe mode" and remove all the entries for your sound card and then reboot when Windows attempts to reinstall it direct it to the new drivers...

yeah do what mjc said and use the old drivers if it was working fine with them. If it aint broke dont fix it. Yeah i know it a old saying but its true.

http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif Still no joy after removing all the 'sound' entries in safe-mode as well as throwing the furniture around! Could there possibly be a defect developed on the sound card after reintallation? HEELLPP, I need an alternative!

Sounds like (unintended pun) you removed the card and then reinstalled. You might want to pull it out and reseat again...check for grime or crud on the contacts.
