i have no sound..no speaker icon on task bar..tried new driver..don't know what sound card i have..don't know much about computers..no sound on any programs..no sound on wavs..etc,etc.."show volumn control on taskbar" greyed out in multimedia properties. one day sound worked..next day didn't. help me, help me..tks

What do you mean "tried a new driver" and "don't know what sound card"?

Drivers are very specific pieces of software, if you install the incorrect one then the device in question will not function. Find the original driver, the brand of sound card and any other systems specs and post back.
