Just the other day, I booted up my computer to find the screen resolution set lower than I keep it at (I keep it at 1280x1040 and it was at 800x600). I changed the settings to my standard and noticed that it was letting me set the resolution higher than I ever remember it letting me--I don't remember exactly, but it was something like two thousand something x twelve hundred something. I thought that was strange and naturally checked to see if someone had altered my computer, but no one had. I booted it up today and found that my highest allowed resolution was 1280x1040--which is lower than it has ever been. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what might cause this? This video card was brand new as of January this year. It's a nVidia TNT2 model 64 video card with 32 megs of on board ram.

Thanks in advance.

wouldn't matter if the card was bought yesterday they can be bad right from the start or could go at any time .if the color depth is droping below the desired setting when the resolution is increased, then it sounds like the card does not have enough Ram to diplay the resolution at the same depth.if you can upgrade it to a higher ram or decide if high res. or high color is important

it doesen't seem to waver at all or flicker at different resoulutions??
no mouse problems?,Icon problems?,nothing dull or brighter than usuall
post back let us know http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif does every thing else seem to hold it's configuration?

Tara....

The TNT2 is a good video card. Try using the Detonator series drivers and see if that doesn't help all around.

Luck.

Any programs installed/uninstalled lately?

What OS?

I'm running Windows ME. The only thing I've changed lately on my computer was adding 128MB of ram, and that was just this morning.

I'm not sure I put my problem across well enough. I haven't noticed any display problems. The color depth hasn't changed at all. The only thing I've noticed is that the resolution options have changed a few times now.

Are you sure you don't allready have more than one set of drivers downloaded on your PC?

Also, onboard video needs to be dis-abled in CMOS.

Luck.
