No Sound

Ive been messing around with directx,now when I do dxdiag I get a message that there is a problem accessing direct sound result code=0x80004005 and result code=0x80040154.Also when I try to play video clips it says cannot play back audio stream:no hardware available error 00040258. Has anyone any ideas what I have done or how I can fix this problem.

Try this-

Check the card's manufacturer's website and see if there's a new driver.

In device manager remove the audio card and then reboot.

Reinstall the card and driver (new driver is preferred).

If that doesn't work post back with some hardware specs.
