Hello all.

I have some HI8 camcorder tapes which I would like to capture on my PC then convert to VCD to watch on my tv through my standalone DVD player. I have heard that it is not possible to obtain sufficient resolution and fps for this to be acceptable quality on tv but if that is the case how is good quality VCD made in the first place?

Advice on this and any recommended analogue capture cards would be most appreciated.

looked into this myself once, still haven't tried it-but you'll need a cd-mastering software that supports VCD burning, and some other apps to successfully convert. Go here, Divex-digest (http://www.divx-digest.com/index.html) for some tutorials, links and software.

Luck! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

iisbob.

Thanks for that. I've also come across an excellent website full of surprises, tips, links etc to help me achieve what I'm trying to do - www.vcdhelp.com (http://www.vcdhelp.com)

Best wishes.
