Double speed sound

My computer is a Tiny Pentium 4 1.3 ghz pc. The problem is the audio sometimes play at double speed. i had this problem b4 which i fixed by ringing the help-line but my hard drive melted so when i had a new one installed the problem came back. Im hoping someone out there had the same problem but remembers what they did to fix it because i cant for the life of me remember... i know its fixable by some option or other but its slightly more technical than i know how to fix.... Please help!

Update the drivers for what ever multimedia hardware you are using ( peripheral card or onboard ). Try a different media program if that doesn't help.
