hi guys...

relative information
ME, 2K, Prophet 4000xt 64mb (most recent win2k and ME driver), pcchip 830Lr, duron 900 mhz, onboard sound... more info available upon request...

recently created a dual boot system with ME and 2k...
both OS are working exceptionally fine... except for the fact that direct 3d hardware acceleration fails for 2k... i get a purple screen running the test, have to press esc to end test... software accel passes and direct draw is fine...

running direct 3d in ME passes with blind colours... so video games work fine under ME...

i've tried new installations of drivers for 2k, default settings for direct 3d ... still doesn't work

any suggestions?? much appreciated people.... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

As much as i love w2000, ( i dual with 98/2000 ) it was originally intended for a business enviroment, not home gaming. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

Try to get the latestversion of DirectX ( 8.1 now ) and you'll have to try different video drivers until you find one that'll work for your PC hardware/software configuration.

I ran into some of the same problems with my Geforce3 Ti500 and w2000, wound up having to install the newest directX and dropping back a couple of driver versions.

i understand that it was meant to be a business OS....

you'd figure micro$oft would make their direct x work with their operating system.... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

thanks iisbob

i'll give it a try and hope for the best....
