Hi

I do experience sound problems at this time(no sound at all).
Now when I boot up my system I get the following msge
Soundblaster error
Creative interface manager cannot load the resource library
c:\windows\system\CIFMAN.crl
Either not enough memory or it does not exists.
I checked for the file but could not find it anywhere.
So I tried to find it on the web with the hope of downloading it,but
no success(including creative labs)Why is it so difficult to find this file
Does anyone know where I could download it from?Maybe this will solve my sound problem.Or will it?
Thanks

1.if it is the cifman.crl file format your hard drive & reinstall the drive. this will solve the headache and everything will be working.

or try this: Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add New Hardware
and have it display a list of devices to choose from.
if your card is not there, click the Have Disk button and insert your driver disk.

you may need to go to creative and update the interface mgr.?

Hi
Thanks for the info.
I completed part 2 of your answer with no change.
In as far as creative is concerned, how would one goi about in updating the interface manager.I attempted to download the cifman.file without succes.
As amatter of fact there are no downloads available at least none that I could see notwithstanding quoting the model no etc.....
Now what?
Thanks

When does the error come up? Before the desktop shows while startup programs are loading or during or after? If it is during or after, try disabling some of the memory hog programs. This is just a guess, but it shouldn't hurt to try I suppose.

Need to re-install the Creative drivers that were compatable w/Win95. Go to www.bootdisk.com (http://www.bootdisk.com) . At Drivers. Click Odd Ball. Scroll all the way thru those and you should find something to help you.

Many different drivers there for Win95/Win3.1 etc.

Luck.

I found the file CIFMAN.crl on Morpheus and downloaded it. I have no idea what version it is or even if there are different versions of this file. If you dont have the program Morpheus, you may want to give it a shot. It's great for finding mp3's too!

Note: There could be a virus threat from downloading software from here...just be aware.

I'll be happy to email you the file if you want.
