I have bought a new set of speakers which I am quite happy with. They consist of 2 Flat Panel speakers and one subwoofer/control unit.
The bass is very good, but I feel that, even compared to my old ones, there is a distinct lack of sharpness to them.Like the treble is needing turned up.
There is only a volume and bass control on the control unit,so my question is,how do I increase the treble?.I have tried Right clicking on the icon in the taskbar for sound and opening sound controls.Clicking on advanced gives me 2 sliders for both bass and treble, but they are both greyed out.Why is this?.How can I enable them?.Or is there another way to increase the treble?.

Hi,
Afraid you're out of luck. If the controls are greyed out, that means that your particular sound card or onboard sound does not support those options. Either learn to live with it, or buy a newer sound card. You could also back off on the bass somewhat.

Hi,
I think it has something to do with DVD playback.
A good soundcard to go with your subwoofer/satelite speakers is either the Soundblaster Live 5.1 or the Soundblaster PCI512. There are also good sound cards from Philips. There is also another brand that's supposedly pretty good and cheaper than the Soundblaster series, but I can't remember the name of it right now.
Don't know how much money you want to spend, but the SB PCI512 is around $50, give or take, and is compatible with most any motherboard/chipset combo. The Live 5.1 has compatibility problems with certain chipsets.
A Soundblaster 16bit card is even cheaper and would provide OK sound from those speakers.
At any rate, you will need a new soundcard to reap the benefits of the treble/bass adjustments.
Happy shopping.

Yep - just got ECD 5.0 Plat myself. I like it - especially since it recognises 80 minute CD-Rs, which V4 did not. Also like SoundStream for building a music CD, it's a bit quicker that ECD itself.
Haven't tried the editor, since I am a CoolEdit Pro user.

if you can succesfully use the (complicated looking) CoolEdit Pro app, seems that regedit would be a breeze for you.

does the graphic equalizer not give you the effect you want ??
