I have been running an original Radeon 64mbDDR VIVO for about 7 months totally fine until last week. It started to make a high pitched whining sound and it wouldn't stop even after i shut the system off, let it cool down and then rebooted. When i opened the case up the fan didn't have anything physically wrong with it. I pushed the fan in while it was running and now it makes a lower pitched but just as loud noise. Has this ever happened to anybody else? If so how did you fix it? Can you buy new fans?

If no one can come up with solution, it is only 7 months old so still under warranty. Take it back to supplier for replacement. Contacting ATI is useless. Half the time they do not reply and the other half they just ignore you. (at least in the UK this is what happens)

A squealing fan equals a dying fan......no two ways about, that fan is soon to spin no more!

BG,
You can purchase replacement fans for video cards for between $10 - $50 depending upon your requirements. Look for a kit that includes a fan, heat sink, thermal paste/tape and connectors. Search on www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com) for a good price (be mindful of shipping however).
Good luck,
ER
