monitor changes color frequently

My monitor had been doing this for six months now. Every couple hours it frequently changes color from white to blue and then back to blue to white. Which isn't functioning? Is it the monitor or is it the video card? My monitor is about 4 yr old.

Hi Kegman and Welcome to the PCguide Forums.
From the description of your problem, and the fact that the monitor is 4 years old, I'd guess that it's the monitor going home. Can you try the monitor on another machine, or another monitor on yours to confirm? That would be the easiest way to check before spending money on it. Repairs to monitors are rarely cost-effective unhappily, especially if as in your case it is probably the tube going. Sorry http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

Could also be something as simple as a loose cable...make sure that the screws holding it in are tightened.

The cable had always been tighten. Thanks you.

Could be that the video cable has been twisted/ crushed just once, so that one of the many wires in the cable is borderline effectiveness. Repair in this case is simple & low cost.

Sometimes the other video connections are loose eg on the videocard, or the cables connecting the video to the motherboard. Repair here is also simple & low cost.

Thank you all for the help. I purchase a brand new monitor now...Samsung SyncMaster 753df. No problem now and no more changing color.
