View Full Version : Clicking when playing music CDs

Under Win2K I get loud clicking when playing music CDs. The problem developed some time after I installed WinAmp and happened when playing music using Winamp; now I have removed Winamp it still happens using Windows Media Player. The CD is an HP CDRW.
The problem does not occur under Win95 (I have a dual boot system) but the CDRW software is not installed under Win95.
Any idea how to fix the clicking?

Is the clicking coming out of the drive or through the speakers?

You must have some sort of software conflict. Possibly a problem in the registry or a corrupted audio codec. If you have a registry repair utility give that a try.
