monitor blurring

I use win98 and LG monitor.The monitor has suddenly become blurr. i cant see any text or image properly. And also, i can see discolour on the sides of the monitor. Is it due to CRT or some power problem?? please help!!!!

i ve checked into other computer, but the problem is same..which shows its the monitor(hardware) problem. is there any solution? it is so blurr that u can hardly see texts.

Don`t attemp to fix it by yourself. Monitors kill. Bring it to a certified technician or buy a new one.

It could be several things, but there is one thing you can try if your monitor has a deGuass button....use it , power down the monitor and then try it again after a few minutes.

my monitor doesnt have degaussing button. do u guys know ,why my monitor is discoloured on the corners? i thought it was due to electromagnetic interference.. but how can i remove it? i dont have any devices near my computer. can i do it with magnet?(silly question) but curious if it can work.

Yes, a magnet should work, but it's tricky, undependable and can totally remove the picture, and therefore not recommended.

This sounds like the monitor is somply going bad. Degaussing probably won't help, or not much. Check the back of the monitor, some have a focus screw inside, if you see a couple of small holes, check the labeling. If it does have a focus adjustment it should be safe to try it, the focus adjustment on every monitor I've seen is a plastic screw mounted on an all plastic component and therfore not likely to produce a shock.

DO NOT OPEN THE MONITOR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. The picture tube (CRT) and capacitors inside can and do hold electrical charges of 15,000-30,000 volts for MONTHS. No matter what anyone might try to tell you, the inside of a monitor is DEADLY, it should only be opened by a trained professaional. 15,000 volts can and will knock a 200 lb man across the room. And the CRT carries enough amperage to be lethal...for several months after being totally unplugged.
