Well I don't know if I meet your prerequisite of experienced pc tech but I do know this is one of the best tech references available: http://www.upgradingandrepairingpcs.com/
It comes with a CD-ROM full of goodies and references and there is a pocket reference guide available with enormous technobabble. This is tehnical reading, but not so much that the layman is totally lost. It encompassed histories of processors and drive technologies and memory explanation etc. Check out one of his earlier editions at your local library to see if you are interested. It is in my collection.

Well, I don't consider myself a PC tech, which is a pity because there's a few books I've found really good http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

I'm not an experienced PC Tech either, but I suppose I could suggest the PC Guide's Troubleshooting and Repair Guide (http://www.pcguide.com/ts/index.htm) and a look at my webpage posted below will turn up some more good links to building, repair and troubleshooting info, as well as everything I can find that has good computer info in general.
