Hello,
I could really use some info regarding a small fire inside of our tower. We have a SuperO pentium P5STE and while trying to remove the internal modem, somehow, wires were crossed. We think the LED wires are what got crossed, is that possible? This is complete user stupidity, we know, but now what we need to find out is what we need to do next. Our biggest problem, surprisingly, is our mouse will not move, it shows up on screen, but has no motion, and our system is recognizing it as a printer...HELP.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks, in advance for not calling us idiots.

If you had an actual fire inside the case, chances are it melted the cable to the serial port, or burned through the copper circuits on the board. Check the ribbon cable to the mouse port, if it's serial, if that's not it, I'd bet you need to invest in a new motherboard.
