My printers are driving me crazy!
Here's the story. My machine is a P233 running W95. I have the following parallel devices: Epson StylusColor400; HP Laserjet2PPlus; HP laserjet1100; old scanner.
I have installed (at different times)a PCI dual parallel port adapter, and a single PCI parallel port. The problem seems related to this. The Epson will print the first3-4 lines of a document, and eject the sheet. Next page will have 2-3 lines, and same thing..for 8 or 9 pages.
The old HP would not print the first time I sent a document. When I send it again, it will print some jarbel at the top of a page, then the document with some typos/dropped char. A few minutes (5)later, another copy.
What's up?
thanks

Try getting a parallel port switch (data switch). They cost about $20 and you can run up to 4 devices. This allows you to run all your printers and scanner on the one existing internal port.

The problem, I think, is with the Laser Jet printers. They don't get along with scanners at all, when run in parallel configuration. The switch separates them so only one is attached to the parallel port at a time. I had to get a switch to run my HP Laser Jet II with a scanner for that reason. They work quite well, the only drawback is you have to remember to flip the switch to the correct printer to use it. Electronic data switches are available, but I don't know if they are reliable.

The only other fix I know of is to get a SCSI scanner, which is much more expensive.

Soon as I come up with all the answers...they change the questions!!
