Hello,

I hope you don't mind me contacting you,
My present company are moving offices and during the clear out
a Radius PressView 21SR colour monitor (manufactured Sept 1996)
was put out with the rubbish,

I know the monitor does not work, but had hoped that I could inquire
about getting it fixed if indeed its possible as maybe the Tube is still in
working order.

Can you advise me as I am based in the UK if I am wasting my time?

Any information you can give me would be most helpful as I think it's
a pitty if nothing can be done as they are great monitors.

regards

Topi

PS what would the life of such a monitor be?

Sometimes monitors can be repaired, it depends on what was damaged. In some cases it's as simple as a fuse, other times the CRT went dead. I have one here that works perfect, but I have to wedge the power switch into the On position with a toothpick, the click-stop inside the switch broke. I don't use it currently, so I haven't worried about repairs.

About all I can tell you is take it to a TV shop and have them give you an estimate before committing yourself to a costly repair job. If it's a simple thing like a fuse or switch, it might be worth it. If the CRT is gone, it would cost almost as much as a new monitor to replace it.

Cathode Ray Tube is the correct spelling...Sorry, I should have posted it that way to begin with, I forget sometimes that many people have no idea what these things are...The CRT is a picture tube, same thing that's in your TV.

If you can't find a computer shop that can handle it, many TV repair shops can handle monitors, they are essentially the same thing with a different input source.
