View Full Version : Printer ok on one app. but not another

I have a Canon BJC-210SP. It tests fine, and prints OK from MS word. However when printing from MS Publisher it prints garble, not even garbled letters, just patterned ink marks. It will continue printing the same pattern page after page of the same garble until I purge or stop printer. I have deleted all printer drivers from safe mode and let Win98 instal its driverand also installed the Canon Driver but it still only prints fine for Word but not Publisher. Any clues boys (and girls)?

Hi Brett,

Only thing I can think to do at this point is to check the print options under the tools menu in Publisher to make sure they are set the same as Word.

Otherwise, I am stumped. Hopefully, some other geeks will have something to add.

Good luck. Let us know if the settings for printing are the same for both programs and we'll go from there.

I can't think of anything else, Publisher prints fine on my HP Desk Jet 400 and HP Laser Jet Series II, never had a minutes trouble with either.

General rule of thumb.

When getting garble when printing, either uninstall the print drivers or upgrade your print drivers. IT is almost always the problem. I have never had it be anything else myself, and I got that advice from a super geek net admin from my college.

That's what I thought Redd, looked up some links, but didn't do much reading into them, didn't have lots of time...

Anyway, I would agree with that, any time I see garbled characters, drivers is my first thought. That or it's trying to emulate another printer...

To BigBlue66.
The print options in the respective tools menu are different in Work and Publisher. There is nothing much to make sure they are the same. Thanks for your imput.

I have downloaded fresh driver from Canon and will post result soon. I'll try this before following through on troubleshooting links at MS. Thanks.

Downloaded Canon BJ servies drivers and loaded them up and what do you know the printer worked. Thank you all and sundry for helping me with such a simple solution.

Please see my new problem with printer cartridge nozzle in peripherals section.
