http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif Mustek 1200UB Scanner can't find or locate Twain Data Source. Purchased scanner. Downloaded driver files from Mustek website. Everything kool. Scanner does "test" scan fine. Everything still copasetic. Raise lid on scanner to bring up Mustek Scanner use window---all I get is "Unable to locate Twain Data Source. Please install software." So I delete everything and re-install. About 6 times! Go to Mustek website and go thru ALL of the trouble shooting stuff. Every thing in order. Still get the same message after raising the lid on the scanner. Twain Data Source unavailable. I know the file is in Windows, as I strolled thru windows and saw it. Man I need some HELP!!!

ranchdog,

If your still looking in, I had a problem once with a paralell port scanner. If yours is one of these, check the Bios to see if your port is set to "Bi-directional". Had the same symptoms and mine was set to something like "Output only". My printer would work, but the scanner wouldn't.

If it uses USB, then this isn't the problem.

Good Luck!

Hacker: Thanx for the type. Yeah, this is a usb type. Plugs into the slot that would also accept digital camera. (ub). New Lexmark printer plugs into it's own usb port. Hence they don't share. Printer works fine. Went into windows files looked up Twain. Opened it up. There was the "goods" on my scanner. When I raise the scanner lid to initiate the process up comes "Imaging" by Kodak on my screen. On it's own here comes a new window with everything you want to do with scanner. AND the message--Twain Data Source Unavailable. Please install Software. Use the 1200ub install.exe go to- test run -scanner makes a pass. In Device Manager all is is hunky. Think I'll throw the damn thing out the window. Thanx again budro.

Have you checked the USB settings in BIOS and Device Manager?

I can't think of anything else, something set wrong somewhere...

ranchdog,

Don't know if you tried this, but, you might try something stupid. From what your describing, you have some USB ports on the front of your comp and some on the back. Try changing USB positions with the printer and scanner. Also, try only scanner in back slots.

It sounds like it could be what Paleo said, one of those check marks on the fourth "Advanced Settings" screen, in the middle of a twenty item list.

Good Luck!
