modem

Hello got another one for you someone gave me an older comp compac presario it has win95 the modem in order to use it you have to shut off "callminder" everytime you use the internet is there anything I can do to eleminate this problem sometimes I shut it off ( callminder ) and it looks like it is off but when I go to use the modem it says I have to turn off the modem first, then sometimes it gives me a open com error

I don't know what "Callminder" is, but maybe you can try removing it from the Start Up folder.

If taking it out of "startup" doesnt do it......try going to Control Panel/Add Remove Software/ ...see if it is in there and if so, REmove it http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Does CallMinder start at start up?

Look in the options/preferances and see if there is a choice that says something like "enable CallMinder at startup" and uncheck it if checked. It should then no longer start when you turn on your computer. You can also disable it removing from the startup folder on the star menu (if it is there) or typing msconfig in the run box and going to the startup tab and unchecking it there. Or if you don't use it at all you can unisntall it.
