Three different external modems I have tried and all do the same problem. When my isp cuts me off the modem disconnects as it should and the led's show a disconnection. The prob is its not telling the pc it has disconnected and the modem status lights on the task bar are still there trying to send or receive data. This is a inconvenience as the pc will not redial after a disconnection because it thinks its still online. The modems are 56k and are connected via the serial port and operating under Win2k. Is there any strings that might help resolve this problem ????? Thanks.

Hi,
On your dial up networking (dun) icon for that connection
, click properties\configure modem- ie that ext modem\options\
and check that status control tab.
OK to save and n see if that helps.

Thanks for the help I sorted the problem out. What it was I needed a extension cable for the modem the cable I had wasnt sending the requested disconnection notice back. I tried a different cable and all goes well.
