Ive had my scanner up and working for a long time now, and I recently had a computer problem where i had had to work inside of the case, I believe i disconnected my internal parallel port, when i noticed i hooked it back up, now the scanner isnt working. The scanner is hooked up to the parallel port. On the system bar it shows the scanner icon and says it is not found. I have it plugged in and installed correctly, what I am thinking is the port needs to be reinstalled (software wise) how would i go about doing this.
Thanks
Phil

Right-click "My Computer" then choose "Properties" then check the Device Manager for conflicts (yellow exclamation). This may indicate what problem you are having. If not, you can remove the port from the Device Manager. I would suggest shutting down the pc first and disconnecting the printer then go back to the DM to remove the port and reboot (fingers crossed) having Windows detect and install the port. HTH

if you were working inside your computer, then it is possible you disconnected the parallel port from the motherboard (if you are using an AT motherboard). Open it back up and check the connection. Otherwise, try checking the port mode in the BIOS.

When you re-attached the parallel port connector inside the computer you may have put it on backwards.

Theres no problem in the device manager, the parallel port doesnt even show up in the dv. Is there any way i can add a parallel port through add new hardware wizard. I checked the intenal connection and it seems that it is connected correctly.
thanks for any help!
