I have been having problems with pages refreshing by themselves, or at least that is what it seems like. It will happen every time I am on freelotto.com through an email at my hotmail account and happens on other sites as well. I have a Gateway G6 300mhz pentium II with 192mb ram and 8.2 gb hd and my browser is IE 5.5. Items in the system tray are icq, gator (already used fix from ms), ms messenger, mcafee v-shield, volume control, power manager, and ensoniq mixer. When I log in on freelotto it takes me to a page which is the first game. Once that page is loaded, it returns to the login page by itself as if refreshing the page. I log in again, and it takes me back again to the first game and it will work fine from then on every time. When I am at this site, I have a note that I am visiting a site outside of hotmail. I’m not completely positive, but it seems like it did start happening shortly after downloading IE 5.5 . Also, maybe this isn’t related, but IE will hang sometimes when attempting to close it and return to desktop. Thanks for any help.
AdSubtract (http://www.adsubtract.com/), formerly InterMute, can disable Auto Refresh. I have not used that feature, but you can try their free download and see if it works for you. I got it to filter ads and as a convenient way to enable/disable cookies and Java. Let me know if it helps.
I found IE5.5 very buggy, and that was part of why I gave up on Windows ME.

thanks for the fast response. I just downloaded popup killer yesterday, but it didn't have anything about being able to disable auto refresh. I'll remove popup killer and download adsubtract and try it out. Thanks http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

I tried adsubtract this morning and it still refreshes. Is it possible IE 5.5 may need to be downloaded again and if so will it affect any programs I have now by doing so?

I am still having trouble with pages refreshing themselves and would like to know if it could be a problem with IE 5.5?
Tyr going to control pane -> add/remove programs -> MS IE5.5 and try the option to repair IE. There is also an unistall option (return to previous version).
