If not wrong, is your software in windows corrupted or crase, try format HD, reinstall windows.

Formatting and reinstalling is a LAST RESORT ONLY. Do not do it unless we exhaust all other options.

We need some system information, and the exact error message, when it happens you'll get a small window with a button that says "Details". Open Details and write down the first line, post that here.

One thing that might help is use the [F8] key to boot to Command Prompt Only and at the C:\> prompt type scanreg_/fix using a space in place of the underscore ( _ ) used here. After you get the message saying the registry has been repaired, reboot and see if it made any difference.

Uninstalling the Office programs and reinstalling them might help too, but don't do that yet, let's see what else we can figure out after we know the exact error messages.

Illegal operation errors are often caused by memory issues, missing DLL or VXD files, or corrupt files. Most of those can be fixed, but we have to know the exact error message to know what information we need to look up.

muzaini: Please don't recommend formatting and reinstalling unless it is obviously a last resort situation. We can often fix the problem without completely reworking the system.

The first question I would ask is: Do you have an ANTIvirus program loaded on this computer? ....and if so, was it running resident when you loaded Lotus, MS Word or whatever else is causing GPF's ...If you did have one loaded and running when you loaded Lotus (for example) there is a better than even chance it is corrupted ( as Pete suggests)... Reloading your software with the virus program OFF is faster than a full reinstall for sure!!

Illegal operation errors can be caused by many things.

I had one machine where it was caused by a faulty memory module. If what other people have suggested doesn't work for you it may be worth running a diagnostic test on your memory.
