View Full Version : Adding a software modem, stuffed control panel?

Have been trying to add a software modem to my pc, and in the process have lost the modem thingy in the control panel??, any suggestions on how i can get it back? I an running windows ME. Thanks in advance.

The only thing I can think of is try a system restore. That should pu tit back to the same condition it was before trying to install the modem.

When installing software modems often you have to install the software before physically installing the modem, then shut down and install the card itself. Boot into Safe Mode and remove the existing modem before trying to install the new one, and check the Control Panel Add/Remove Software section also to see if any modem related software must be removed pertaining to the old modem.

when you have the modem properly installed the icon should show back up in the control panel.

How did you install this modem to begin with?

Is it working?

Does the modem show up in device manager?
