I have a friend with a Dell Inspiron 800 notebook (at least I think that's what it's called) with Windows ME. It's giving him endless grief. He want's me to install Windows 2000 on it (he bought it).
I don't have much experience with notebooks, period. Their integrated-everything, proprietariness scare me http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
In terms of RAM, HDD space and processor the system can handle Windows 2000 no problem, but what do you think? Should I plan to take a week's leave from work to get it running right? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif I should say he also has a full suite of CD's from Dell, including the WinME restore, utilities, etc. so if all else fails I *should* at least be able to ge ME back up.
Any comments, experiences welcome. And if you never hear from me again you'll know that things went terribly wrong.......
