I bought a gigabyte motherboard at a bargainable price without any manual. The
system runs without any problems.
The only problem is that i also bought two
stick of Hyundai 64 sdram. There are three
sdram and two edo ram slots on the board.
When i slot in one stick on the first sdram slot it boots ok detecting 64megs.

But when i slot in the other 64meg stick on
the second slot the system detected only 32
megs together with the ram on the 1st slot.
Tried the 3rd slot and it detected only 16megs.

Is there any way to go around this problem.
Is there any jumper setting that i had to do
first before slotting in the other stick.

BTW, my cpu is pentium 233mmx on an AT casing. My OS is windows ME.

Please help somebody.

Do you know the Model of the Motherboard? We need that to see if the
Motherboard can take the 2 chips of sdram.

Hopefully your mobo has a jumper setting which will disable the simms slots and enable all of the dimms slots to be active (otherwise, why would they have put them in?). Try to find out the FCC ID # of this board if all else fails and then you can go to the mfg. website and get the manual information. Here is the site for FCC ID #'s http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/
I dont know where on the board they stamp the ID # however....

Hi Blazer and randy. Thank for responding and sorry
for the delay in replying. I just got back from work (i
am working full day today instead of half-day).

Blazer the model no is GA-586TX3 which is printed on
the mBoard.Hopes this is sufficient.

Randy i am having problem getting the FCC id.How
do i get it from the mBoard. Is it printed there?
Thanks.

The manual is available at the Gigabyte Support Page (http://www.giga-byte.com/support/support.htm). All you need is the model number you just posted, sometimes you have to look it up by BIOS ID string, but you got lucky.

FCC ID# will usually give you the name of a company in Taiwan you can't pronounce, which is the place it was actually made, then you still have to find out the model number to get the manual from the gigabyte site...been there, done that...

Been there too Pete. The problems is that the downloading
rate is too low 575bytes and takes a long time and
stalled occasionally.I had tried it a couple of times
on different days but same problem.

I thought perhaps there are other website with the
above mBoard model to download from.If there is pls
let me know.

Thanks for the reply.

BTW pete what could be the reason the sdram slot
behave in such a manner as i had described it above?
Is it a jumper problems or Bios.?

Pete i tried again at least 7 times but the downloading
stalled and not able to finish loading. It is not my modem
because i download other files from different website
without any problems at 5.0 to 6.0 tranfer rates at
52000bps.

Could you try downloading from your end the manual,
zipped it and e-mail it to me.I'll really appreciate
it.
