I have purchased a Y adaptor and connected the external keyboard and mouse, however the mouse is not detected. The adaptors fine as the keyboard is working fine, any ideas?

Ok but what is the mouse? serial--usb??
your going to need to be a little more specific on system and what it is you have as far as perefrials. can't pull answers out of a hat if we don't have a hat. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif Guess what I'm saying is if the mouse does not explistly state that it is both serial and ps/2-type it will only work on the single interface it is desighned for.

I had the same problem with my IBM thinkpad. Even though my mouse and keyboard where both PS 2 compatible, the mouse will only work on the serial socket. I presume that you have the ps2/serial adapter ? Try that.
