I have a IBM Think Pad 760XL. When turning on my laptop it beeps once and it tells me starting windows 95..... then I get the C: prompt. Nothing else happens. When I turn the computer on while holding down the F1 key. I gat an error 00301. Then I go into test to test the components. Everything checks out except the memory. I get an X by the chip and it displays dev 002 err 21 fru 0020.

Can someone please help me??? I borrowed the computer from my sister-in-law if I can fix it for a minimal price I would like to keep it. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Have you added any memory recently?

I have a different ThinkPad so the following may not apply to your model, but perhaps it's worth a try. Failing which try and get in touch with IBM helpline.

Have you checked the reset switch? It should be on the back by the printer port, looks like an inset dot.
You might try entering Bios setup, run the "test" option and then "initialize" the machine. Try a "boot from a floppy" operation.

I tried the reset button and nothing changes. I access the easy-setup go to test, run the test and everything checks out fine with the exception of the memory. I tried taking out some memory but I still get the same problem. I have initialized and I come back to the same thing. The screen tells me starting windows 95..... then I get the C: prompt. I cannot get the computer to start off of the windows 95 disk. I have no other disks for the computer. Is there something else that I should try starting off of? Desprite, PLEASE HELP!!!!! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif
