View Full Version : Sound Card: docked it works, undocked it doesn't

My Toshiba Tecra 8000 has a soundcard that works for me when the laptop is docked. When it's undocked, it doesn't work. I'm not sure what's wrong but in the Device Manager, I know that the "Disable in this profile" is not checked. Any ideas for me? I've already tried re-installing the sound card in both the docked and undocked positions. Additionally, I'm sure that I have the right drivers because I downloaded them straight from Toshiba. It seems like it actually worked undocked at one point, but I'm not sure what might have happened between now and then. Please help!
Under power settings you will find an option to power off devices when using battery power.
To conserve the Batt.
That is the first place I would look.
To ERR is HUMAN
To REALLY screw things UP, YOU NEED a COMPUTER !

Thanks for the suggestion. I changed those settings and then while reading more on Toshiba's website, I discovered that the exterior volume control (placed over the CD tray in a way that seemed to indicate that it was exclusively for the CD player, like on a desktop's CD player) actually controls the speakers for the system sount.
I sure appreciate the help!
