when i shut down my pc, as usual my pc will prompt me 'it is safe to shut down your computer'.
after that it will prompt 'A fatal exception OE has occured at 0028-C0005137 in VXD VMM(01) + 00004137. The current application will be terminated.'
what actually the problem & how do i diagnose it?
Boy, I hate those ones, very hard to figure out. Tell me, is there anything you recently installed, hardware or software, that caused this to start happening? Any hints as to what might have caused it?

I get this one if I run Diablo II. Just think about what applications you run when this happens, one of them may be the culprit. I'm assuming you don't get this error if you bring your system up from a powered-off state, then immediately shutdown?
If so, then I'm stumped. Otherwise, you should be able to determine which application is causing the problem and either contact their support, or reinstall and eliminate the problem?
The same thing happened when I first installed a sound blaster 16 ISA card in my computer. Before, my computer ran faster and would shut down correctly. Even after I upgraded to a Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer I kept getting the same blue screen durring a shut-down. The one thing that did fix the problem for me doing a clean install of Windows. After that I had no more problems shutting down my computer. So the problem might be a driver/hardware issue. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/confused.gif

MATT I HAD THE SAME PROB YOU MIGHT WANT TO REINSTALL SOUND BLASTER ITS PROBERLY INSTALLING DRIVER OVER DRIVER AND CAUSING A CONFLICT REMOVE DRIVER AND IF PROMPT TO
INSTALL DRIVER DECLINE AND SEE IF THAT HELPS
