I need to install a new mouse but I am alittle confused about the procedure. I bought a Hewlitt Packard mouse with the scroll wheel at a store, the clerk told me to just download Logitech to run the mouse. I have Pent2, win 98. I tried that but I am doing something wrong. I have to use the old mouse to download the software, the files I downloaded wont work with the old mouse and when I plug in the new mouse it dowsn't work either. What am I doing wrong?

Try looking up the Hewlitt Packard mouse drivers. Logitech drivers usually work with most mice, I've seen very few that won't, but your HP might be one of them.

Windrivers (http://www.windrivers.com) and WinFiles (http://www.winfiles.com) are the most likely places to look.

Also sometimes the mouse drivers must be installed using a setup or install program in the driver files, instead of using the add hardware wizard or change driver option in Device Manager. Drivers also have to be unzipped when downloaded from the net, before being installed. Most are self extracting, double click the downloaded file to extract, then look for setup.exe or install.exe and double click it.
