every time i shut off my computer and cut it back on a blue screen comes up and say u windows protection error u need to restart your computer, system halted and then when i cut it off it comes back up in safe mode, what is happening and what is causing this.

Can't be much help, but here's an article in the MicroSoft Knowledge Database (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q149/9/62.asp) related to Windows Protection Errors.

This error message can also show up when using the AMD K6-2 CPU at 350MHz or faster with Windows 95. Amd released a patch for it, at AMD (http://www.amd.com) You'll have to look around a bit for it.
