How do I reboot my computer into safe mode using the f8 key? When do I press this key?

Press the F8 key when you see a line that says Starting Windows or Verifying Pool Data. It will bring up a boot menu. Safe Mode is one of the options listed, along with Step by Step Confirmation, Command Prompt Only, Safe Mode Command Prompt Only and a couple others.
