Windows me hanging up with jazz drive

I have installed windowsMe and every time it comes to detecting jazz drive it takes a long time to respond and says "no disk in jazz drive and hangs up.I have reinstalled driver for jazz drive but makes no difference. I have a IBM 32U 64 Mb 13gig with a 600mhz processor. I have even reinstalled windows Me but nothing has changed.I must tell u that this has never happened with windows 98se. I even hear the jazz drive making a lot of noise when trying to initialise itself..never heard it before

Maybe try installing it with a disk in it?

I have to install my tape drive without a tape in it or Windows refuses to recognize it.
