I am trying to install Win95 on an old 486 with 32Mb RAM.
Everything goes perfect until it gets to the part near the end .You have just finshed copying files and the computer has rebooted itself, now it says it is setting up Control Panel, Shortcuts, Help, Time Zone and Printer. I have never seen this happen before but for some reason it skips right past the time zone part. This wouldnt be a big problem but after the set up is complete, when I go into control panel all the expected icons are there but over half of them do nothing. Above all this the 'control panel - system - Device manager, doesnt show any problems yet the sytem is very unstable and freezes very often. Does this problem sound at all familiar with anybody

I have never experienced this exact problem, but I think it could be a damaged WIN95 CD. I burned a backup copy of my WIN95 and WIN98 CD's a while back, and several files on my 98 CD did not copy. Not sure if it had scratches or what but the CD was damaged. I am still able to use it and install 98 on my PC. The damaged part is in a directory that isn't important - 'tour win98' I think. I only learned it was damaged when I tried to copy it.
