I had at one time a partitioned HD with win 98 and win2k on it with boot magic as my boot manager...I uninstalled and reformatted HD but it still asks me if I want to boot win2k. I noticed it is a boot ini problem and need to edit it but have no idea what it's supposed to say or look like. Please help. Thanx in advance!

If you want to remove the option to boot to Win2k follow these steps.(editing the boot.ini file would stop Win2k from loading but not remove the NT boot loader. You would only have a "broken" Win2k installation not a working 98)

First use the Windows 98 startup disk to boot the computer. Then use the SYS command to overwrite the MBR of your hard disk. ( this will place the system files needed to start Windows 98 ONLY on the disk and remove the NT boot loader)Now reboot the computer to test that the NT boot loader has been removed. ( do not proceed if the boot loader hasn't been removed)

Second delete the following files from your C drive.

NTdetect.com
Ntldr
boot.ini
bootsec.dos

When done the system will only have the option to boot into Windows98.

Hope this helps
