I've tried installing it three times now and nothing seems to be the matter until i get to the desktop at the end of the installation. I go ahead and try to shutdown, but for some reason it won't. It goes to the hourglass cursor and the background gets fuzzy, but then the hard drive goes inactive and it just sits there. I've even gone as far as running fdisk all over again to make sure i iradicated any loose information from the last install and it still won't work. It's getting kinda frustrating.
The motherboard has built in audio and video, and i thought there may be an IRQ conflict of some sort but im not noticing any problems.

problem solved. i was noticing that whenever a sound file was executed, the systenm froze. This led me to believe that ther may be something wrong with the onboard soundcard so a slapped on some $20 card i had lying around and disabled the built in one. Now it runs quite well.
