Well just try installing from the floppies, A: works right?

Or you could search the floppies for the missing files. I believe that the first floppy is a bootable disk so you may be able to insert it and boot to it then exit setup and go from there.

That coffee receipe is also a good paint stripper and grease remover! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

OK...I'm ready to jump back in. Sorry sea that the boot floopy didn't work.
But you've got past that one thanks to Pete.

First, if you have access to any Windows 95 system. Open the control panel click the system icon and on the first page the key is displayed. You can use that to install the OS. Your friend can get that information for you in that way if needed.

The other disk you have is a "corp" disk. I get them in my MSDN subscription and they don't need any key. So you could use that too.

But thats win95 version (A). I will most likely 'try' it.. but was attempting 'patince' to wait until the guy gets home so I can get the correct "key" (cert of auth).. I dont think I can wait that long ..lol http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Did they giveyou the book with the floppies? Box? Any written documentaion? Because it is usuually in the documentation somewhere. Also if you have finally gotten cd support you should be able to use the Win95 cd and let it use the key that exists in whatever remnants are left on the HD (I can't remeber exactly where it stores the info but it should be intact)

Yeah...Any Win95b one will do. You may even be able to use a Win95a one and if it doesn't work.. oh well no harm done.

Being how's my company is a Microsoft bussiness partner it wouldn't look good for me to be giving away their keys. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Anyhow all of my disk are corp ones..they don't need keys.
Sorry http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

#1) no.

#2) no, it ("Windows 95 Setup Wizard") requires me to enter 'Cert of Auth'....

have not tried the floppies yet.. was hoping I could still do it w/ the cd.

**got ya, don't want to get 'illegal' here.. not my intention, thanks for ur help http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

**update: am using the old floppies and they had a key built in..on disk
