So I'm sitting in a meeting of our Computer Maintenance Group the other day and the Head delivers a "I bet this will keep you busy for a while..." statement. He was referring to discovering what these .tmp files in the Windows/Temp folder are exactly. He is specifically talking about the files with very large names that look more like hex addresses than anything else. The files, according to their properties, are of 0 kb. So now I pose this ??? to those of you that may already know what the HAL I'm talking about. I'll be doing the search thing, but thought I would ask in case someone had already done the leg-work.
Ya know it is just one of those...I'd like to know things... nothin's broke and I ain'ta tryin' to fix it. Mostly occurring in Win 98 & 98SE, he said in ME also and not sure if it happened in 95 or not. Check your folders...you may have something there now. My first guess, with the hex code and all, is a pointer to a location in memory as in ..."Go here for more info" type file.
I just wanted to exercise everyone's grey matter a bit. Thanks & Later http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
