I have recently installed Linux (Red Hat 6.1) on a spare hide drive I had at work. Unfortunately this drive is now needed for another machine which will have Windows on it.

My problem is that I cannot get rid of the Linux drive partitions with Fdisk. Here is exactly what happens:

When going into Fdisk for the first time, I had the following partitions:-

1. Primary Dos partition
2. Extended Dos partition (which takes up most of the drive)
3. Non dos partition.

So, as usual, I went into option 3 (delete partition or logical drive). I selected option 4 and deleted the non dos partition.

I then selected option 3 to delete the logical dos drive in the extended partition. I then get the warning "no logical drives defined"

I then went to option 2 (delete extended dos partition) and this time I get a warning "cannot delete extended partition while logical drives exist."

Anybody got any suggestions about how I can get back to a single FAT 32 partition which I can put Windows on?

Cheers,

Andy

I use this Debug Script to Clear the Partition Sector (http://www.firmware.com/support/bios/hdclear.htm) to delete non-DOS or corrupted partitions.
